I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, I moved to San Francisco, where I was a bookseller and photographer. Returning east, I earned a Master’s in Media Studies at the New School for Social Research in New York City. Following graduate school, I spent several summers at the Iowa Summer Writing Workshop, where my first book, Borderlines: A Memoir, was born. Now living in Northern California, I am writing a second book and also working on screenplays, photography and documentary projects. In addition, I work as a multimedia editor supporting arts and education institutions such as PBS, The Independent Television Service, Encyclopedia Britannica, Scientific Learning Corporation and Northwestern University.
