Caroline Kraus
I started Story Studio in 2025 as a creative space for helping organizations and individuals preserve and share their history, knowledge and experiences. As a published author and documentary filmmaker, I bring firsthand experience to every project, whether that’s guiding interviews, developing stories from those interviews, or building personalized websites to showcase people, places and work.
My approach incorporates decades of interviewing documentary participants and translating the subject matter expertise of faculty and thought leaders into short videos and online courses for institutions and nonprofits.
In 2023, my experience deepened as I worked with LifeBook Memoirs, guiding authors through months of recorded conversations and selections of images, providing the material, tone, themes, and structure for their published books.
My own memoir was published by Random House, and I’ve worked as a bookseller in some of the most well-known independent bookstores in the country, adding a valuable lens on the publishing industry.
Most recently, as an educator at New Roots Institute, I’ve had the opportunity to deliver hundreds of interactive presentations and lead dynamic discussions about global concerns in classrooms and community centers throughout the Bay Area, deepening my listening and reflection skills and appreciation for diverse life stories.
In addition to my collaborative work, I create my own writing, photography, illustrations, and films, found here. My documentary project Moments of Truth explores the human relationship with animals and the environments we share, reflecting the themes of connection and inquiry that inform everything I do at Story Studio.
