Creating the illustrations for Where Did the Turtles Go? has been a delightful journey of discovery and connection. Inspired by walks with Katie Lerwick and her dog Carl, the wonders of childhood exploration became an important theme, communicating the value of our turtle friends and the special places they call home. 

About my process: I begin with digital photographs of real environments and from there I use a tablet as a canvas and a stylus as a brush to create the characters and landscapes, layering digital elements, blending colors, and developing the textures, shading and light.
