THE LAST PLACE ON EARTH

I contributed the writing for this article, published in LAIKA Magazine, with photography by Jennifer MaHarry. It's a story about Canada's indigenous First Nations, and their decades-long defense of the Great Bear Rainforest from industrial interests. Jennifer Maharry is one of the few who have been to the GBR and encountered, much less photographed, the rare, white Spirit Bear. By sharing these images with the wider world she and other photographers have helped to raise awareness about threats to this pristine wilderness, and the communities who have called it home for centuries.
