Exploring Life

THROUGH WORDS AND PICTURES

I am interested in the ways big picture ideas shine through small details and moments. I explore this through films and interviews, photography, illustration and writing.

My documentary Moments Of Truth looks at the human relationship with animals and the environments we share, incorporating interviews and spontaneous encounters recorded throughout the United States. The production unfolded over several years living on the road full time with my dog Henry.

I am based in Northern California, and my career path includes media production roles with universities and nonprofits.

Henry

From the moment we joined forces in 2014, Henry and I were an inseparable pair, sharing and navigating life’s challenges, discoveries and joys.

A watchful mixture of herding shepherds, Henry’s ability to understand, communicate and listen made our years of travel and filmmaking easy, deepening my respect for his independent experience of being alive and knowing the world.

When I brought him home on the day of adoption, Henry darted under my bed, hiding as I set water and food at the perimeter, along with a stuffed frog. Moments later he pulled the frog under the bed to join him, but soon enough he ventured out, first exploring our home, then following me onto sidewalks, then along trails and beaches. We rolled down back roads, camped in state and national parks, took in an epic diversity of landscapes, and met many, many people and animals in cities and towns across America.

Henry died after illness on July 30th, 2025, cradled in my arms, at home.
