Aysha Akhtar, MD, MPH
Dr. Aysha Akhtar is a double Board-certified neurologist and preventive medicine/public health specialist whose work points out that there is a mutual benefit to both humans and animals when animal interests are protected. She is the author of Our Symphony With Animals, and in her TED Talk, Dr. Akhtar presents scientific evidence that demonstrates the inter-dependence of human and animal health.
“We are using more animals in experimentation now than ever in human history, while what we’re finding is, as a whole, animal experimentation is incredibly ineffective. And we also know that the wildlife trade, like factory farming, is an influencer for the emergence of new infectious diseases like pandemic flu.”
